Anchorage to Denali

Alaska Railroad Anchorage to Denali Park

Arrive at the Anchorage depot an hour early to catch your 8:20 AM train to Denali. This is one of the longer trips on the Alaska Railroad, so be sure to pack in your carry on anything you’ll need throughout the day. Now all you have to do is listen for the conductor to call “All Aboard,” and you’re on your way north.

Your first leg of this train trip takes you some 112 miles from Anchorage to the small town of Talkeetna. Note that even though you’ll be making stops, the Alaska Railroad does not offer “hop on, hop off” service. Instead, individual segments need to be reserved separately if you plan to get off the train along the way. Read the full Anchorage to Talkeetna route guide.

Leaving Talkeetna, you’ll continue north along glacial rivers, through historic Curry, up and over Broad Pass, and into the borders of Denali National Park. It’s 121 scenic rail miles between Talkeetna and Denali Park. Read the full Talkeetna to Denali Park route guide.
