What to Do in Anchorage

A little bit wild, a little bit urban. In Anchorage you can spend a morning fly-out bear viewing, an afternoon at a world-class museum, and an evening fine dining.

Your Stay in Anchorage

The basics to help you plan your stay in Anchorage. Need help? We help with both activity and hotel suggestions, just give us a call.

Anchorage has an array of lodging from boutique inns and AirBnBs to hotels and extended stay properties. Most hotels are in downtown, midtown, or near the airport. By the airport you’ll find the Lakefront Anchorage Hotel. Downtown, the Hotel Captain Cook is a nice choice on the upper end. Midtown properties like the Fairfield Inn and Suites offer budget-friendly options.

Anchorage is known as the “air crossroads of the world” and most visitors either arrive and or depart Alaska via the Anchorage International Airport. Both the Alaska Railroad and the Park Connection Motorcoach are headquartered here, giving access to the widest selection of routes, services, and destinations. Many visitors also arrive or depart Anchorage by cruise ship via nearby Whittier or Seward.

Taxis and ride shares are readily available. National and local rental companies are represented at the airport, but consider one that offers an offsite location to avoid taxes and fees that come along with airport car rentals. There is a public bus system, as well as a great network of bike trails. If you are staying downtown, plenty of shops and restaurants are within walking distance.
