The Alaska Railroad’s “coach” class service, but trust us, it’s far from standard. Spacious seating, picture windows, shared dome views, and the ability to walk between cars are just a few of the things that make Adventure Class popular with travelers. It’s the only service on all routes serving all rail destinations in Alaska.

Adventure Class Experience

Adventure Class cars are roomy with high ceilings, large windows, and a truly surprising amount of leg room. Most seats recline and have footrests. There are overhead racks and plenty of room for carry-on bags. Adventure Class cars are wheelchair accessible.

Adventure Class features the Wilderness Café. This casual grab-and-go café offers hot and cold items including sandwiches, salads, and small plates. There are also snacks and treats like cookies and ice cream, as well as beverages including full bar service. You can enjoy your café items at your seat or in a separate lounge car.

Friendly host guides circulate through the cars to provide route highlights along the way. Adventure Class passengers can access a shared dome car that offers an even better view of the scenery along the train route. Passengers are asked to rotate seats, limiting their use to 20 minutes at a time, but often these cars are not busy and you can stay longer.
